Sales tax revenue increased 1% to $29.9 billion in August from the same month in 2022, according to U.S. Census Bureau data for 28 states compiled by Bloomberg. Georgia rose the most, up 13.2%, and Iowa fell the most, down 10.4%.
- General sales and gross tax receipts fell 0.1% to $25.3 billion and accounted for 84.5% of sales tax receipts (24 states)
