Tariff Ruling Prompts Border Tax Hearing
Congress’ Joint Economic Committee will hold a hearing on a border-adjusted tax in the aftermath of the US Supreme Court ruling striking down President Donald Trump’s sweeping global tariffs.
“To bring greater stability and competitiveness to our economy, and address tax arbitrage arising from other countries’ tax policies, I believe the U.S. should move toward a border-adjusted, destination-based cash flow tax,” said JEC Chair David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) in a statement. He added that he plans a hearing on the topic in the “coming weeks.”
