‘Survivor’ Winner Fighting $3 Million Tax Bill Blames System

The first winner of “Survivor” said in a Monday brief that he’s been trying to resolve his 20-year tax dispute but the system has left him “simply and literally incapable” of doing so.

Richard Hatch Jr., who is trying to get his $3.3 million in tax liabilities tossed, said he’s been trying to navigate a system that has proven difficult and complex. Hatch’s tax debt stems from not reporting his $1 million in winnings to the IRS after he won the show’s first season in 2000. He represents himself.
