Tax ‘Blue Book’ to Revive Lawmakers’ Technical Fixes Standoff

Congress’ official tax scorekeeper is set early next year to release an explanation and potential fixes to the Biden administration’s tax-and-climate law, setting up a potential bargain between Republicans and Democrats to enact technical corrections for the Inflation Reduction Act and 2017 tax law.

The “blue book,” prepared by the Joint Committee on Taxation, is Congress’ official explanation of all the tax changes that became law in the last year. The nonpartisan panel usually identifies any potential technical fixes to the legislation in footnotes.
