Tax Division Appellate Chief at Justice Department Leaving

Gilbert Rothenberg, chief of the Appellate Section of the Department of Justice’s Tax Division, will be leaving the department on Nov. 1.

Rothenberg announced the move on Oct. 4 at the American Bar Association Tax Section meeting in San Francisco.

He said he wouldn’t be staying away from the tax area, and plans to continue teaching.

• Rothenberg has worked at the Tax Division over his entire career, according to a faculty profile.
• Rothenberg is an adjunct professor at two law schools: American University’s Washington College of Law and George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School.
