IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig doubled down on his stance that extending the tax-filing season isn’t necessary, despite some calls to push the deadline.
The current tax season ends April 15. Several Democratic lawmakers and tax professionals have urged the IRS to move the deadline to allow people more time to prepare and file their returns. The agency provided a three-month extension last year at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
