Tax pros hoped at the start of tax filing season for a return to relative normalcy—that they would encounter fewer challenges, given billions in new agency funds and the end of key pandemic-era programs.
As the deadline for filing individual income tax returns is reached Tuesday, tax professionals say the IRS lived up to these hopes.
“From a pure IRS standpoint, yeah, this has been the best season that we’ve had in a long, long time,” said Adam Markowitz, owner of Luminary Tax Advisors.
