Congressional tax writers urged Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to reconsider an IRS proposal restricting who is considered a donor-adviser, which they warn could have a “chilling effect” on charitable giving.
Thirty-three House Ways and Means members, led by Reps. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) and Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.), said the rules were too broad, potentially encompassing public charities, according to a letter obtained by Bloomberg Tax.
