A dip in IRS workforce numbers, even after filing season, will impact taxpayers who have errors on their returns or need to correspond with the agency, a former top official said.
“We do not have the capability to do that digitally, so I’m very worried about the numbers of employees that the IRS has,” former IRS acting Commissioner Doug O’Donnell said at an American Bar Association Tax Section meeting Friday.
