Thailand Extends Excise Tax Cut on Diesel for Another 2 Months

Thai cabinet approves a two-month extension for lower excise tax on retail diesel prices to help contain the cost of living for consumers.

  • The excise tax reduction of 5 baht per liter on diesel, due to expire later this month, will be extended to January, according to Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith.
  • The government may lose about 20 billion baht of revenue from the tax rebate extension
