Welcome to our first 2021 installment of “They’ve Got Next.” It’s our latest round in a series that highlights the work of rising stars of the bar — young lawyers who are leading the way in variety of practice areas.
So far, we’ve looked at the work of young attorneys in labor & employment, intellectual property, and bankruptcy. In our fourth installment, we spotlight five young lawyers to know in the world of tax: Amanda Kottke of Baker McKenzie; Jocelyn Tau of Akin Gump; Kara Mungovan of Cravath; Nathan Wacker of Skadden; and Scott Pollock of Sidley Austin.
These attorneys have represented multinational companies in court, including in wins for Nike worth more than $250 million and in current Facebook litigation with billions potentially at stake. They’ve also advised on multi-billion-dollar transactions involving other household names like T-Mobile and 7-Eleven. Above all else, these young lawyers aren’t allowing their youth to put any limits on their leadership.
“Just because you’re suddenly in a room with people who have been doing this longer than you have doesn’t mean that you can’t apply your skills and apply your logic and contribute a lot,” Cravath partner Kara Mungovan, told reporter Aysha Bagchi. Bagchi worked with Jeff Leon on this project.
