The Treasury Department is prioritizing guidance on a new tax credit for donors to organizations that give scholarships meant to expand access to private schools, an official said.
The tax credit was created by the GOP tax law enacted last summer. Treasury is considering issues related to the interactions between federal and state requirements, Amber MacKenzie, a Treasury attorney-adviser, said during a Friday panel at the American Bar Association Tax Section’s midyear meeting in San Diego.
“That’s the big piece of guidance we’re working on,” MacKenzie said.
