The Trump administration plans to name a new nominee to be IRS commissioner even as the Treasury Department Monday named a new CEO to lead the agency, according to the office of a key tax writer.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday announced that Social Security Administration Commissioner Frank Bisignano also would take on the role of CEO of the IRS. That newly created position would hand Bisignano responsibility over day-to-day operations while Bessent would remain as acting commissioner.
