Treasury: Taxpayer Advocate Service’s Response to CARES Act (IRC §7803)

Interim audit report provides information about the Taxpayer Advocate Service’s (TAS) initial actions to assist taxpayers with CARES Act issues, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration released March 8. TAS actions in response to the CARES Act have included identifying and addressing CARES Act issues affecting large groups of taxpayers (Systemic Advocacy) and assisting individual taxpayers (Case Advocacy), as well as taking other actions to educate and assist taxpayers during the pandemic.
