The Treasury Department said it will release rules limiting undocumented immigrants from claiming certain tax credits.
Those who live in the US illegally will not be eligible for the refundable part of individual tax credits like the earned income tax credit, the additional child tax credit, the american opportunity tax credit, and the saver’s match credit, according to a Treasury press release Thursday,
“Under President Trump’s leadership we are enforcing the law and preventing illegal aliens from claiming tax benefits intended for American citizens,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent in a release.
