Groups representing truck stops and fuel marketers have launched a last-minute lobbying blitz against language in Democrats’ spending bill that would create a more lucrative tax credit for sustainable aviation than for biofuels.
The “favorable treatment” for the aviation fuel “flies in the face” of a technology-neutral approach to clean energy tax credits that the spending package purports to advocate, said David Fialkov, executive vice president of government affairs for NATSO, which represents travel plaza and truckstop owners and operators. The trucking industry relies on biofuels, such as biodiesel and renewable diesel, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
