Trump Tax Adviser Choice Counted the President as a Client

The Trump administration’s pick for a top spot at the Treasury Department’s tax shop advised President Donald Trump himself.

Ken Kies, a longtime tax lobbyist and lawyer, offered advice on “tax controversy” and technical issues to Donald Trump of Palm Beach, Fla., according to Kies’ financial disclosure report obtained by Bloomberg Government. The form is part of an ethics vetting for nominees. Kies was paid at least $5,000 for his services, according to the report.

The White House and Treasury Department didn’t respond to requests for comment.
