Trump’s ‘Demeaning’ Transgender Troop Ban Blocked by Judge (2)

A federal judge temporarily blocked enforcement of President Donald Trump’s executive order banning transgender people from the armed forces, holding that the directive was “soaked in animus” toward a minority group and was “unabashedly demeaning.”

The decision Tuesday by US District Judge Ana Reyes in Washington bars Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other military officials from taking any steps to implement Trump’s ban while a lawsuit filed by transgender troops proceeds. Thousands of trans service members had faced dismissal starting later this month under a plan set out by the Pentagon.
