U.K.’s Sunak Drops Tax Liability For Covid-19 Testing

Third-party Covid-19 tests by employers will no longer be treated as a taxable benefit in kind, Chancellor Rishi Sunak says in letter.

  • Government is “introducing a new income tax and NICs exemption from income tax for employer-provided COVID-19 antigen tests. This will be in effect for any tests which have taken place during the current tax year 2020-21,” Sunak says
  • Sunak had been asked to look at issue by Treasury Committee Chairman Mel Stride
