UK Court Blocks London Casino From Recovering More Input VAT

A UK court rejected a casino’s bid to switch a formula for taxing services that are hard to classify, depriving the company behind the gambling operation of a multimillion-pound tax decrease.

The Court of Appeal (Civil Division) dismissed Hippodrome Casino Ltd.’s appeal of an Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber) ruling that found the company had failed to come up with an alternative for calculating input value-added tax.
