UK Tailor Off the Hook for Illinois Taxes After Court Appeal

An Illinois appeals court sided with a UK company over a whistleblower’s claim that the tailoring business knowingly avoided collecting and remitting state use taxes.

The appeals court affirmed a lower court’s summary judgment in favor of Henry Poole & Co. Ltd., the UK tailoring business, finding there was no violation of the Illinois False Claims Act.
