Governments will work out the details on cross-border services taxes and tax avoidance during coming negotiations on the UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation, a UN tax official said Friday.
The talks are slated for August, and this time, “it’s governmental,” Michael Lennard, chief of International Tax Cooperation & Trade in the Financing for Development Office at the United Nations, said after a panel at the 2025 Pacific Rim Tax Conference in California. “That’s the big difference for the UN: This is actual governmental negotiations, not the committee of experts where people are acting in their personal capacity.” ...
