US Gets $2 Million FBAR Judgment Against Consultant in France

The owner of a Virgin Islands consulting business who lives in France failed to appear to contest his $2 million penalty for failure to report foreign bank accounts.

The US District Court for the District of Columbia granted default judgment to the government against Ricky Don Debrick, a US citizen who failed to file a report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts, or FBAR. The government “successfully demonstrated” that he willfully failed to report assets totaling $2.9 million in 2010 and $3.4 million in 2011, Judge James E. Boasberg said.
