Artificial intelligence doesn’t belong in the OECD-led discussions about taxing the digital economy, the top US delegate to the organization said Tuesday.
Rebecca Burch, deputy assistant secretary for international affairs at the Treasury Department, said she understands the instinct to include AI in the current conversations at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
But the talks will never move forward if AI is included because it will be too hard to define the problem, she said.
