US Seeks $44 Million From Ex-Russian Gas CFO for Non-Reporting

Mark Anthony Gyetvay, the former chief financial officer of Russian natural gas company Novatek, owes nearly $44 million in penalties for willfully failing to report his foreign bank accounts, the US alleged in a complaint.

The civil lawsuit comes after the Florida man was criminally convicted in March of failing to disclose offshore accounts, failing to timely file returns, and making false statements to the IRS. His sentencing hearing in that case is set for Sept. 21.
