US Sues Florida Businessman for $16.9 Million in Unpaid Taxes

The US says it should be able to collect over $16.9 million in unpaid taxes and interest dating to 2003 and 2004 from a real estate businessman in Florida, according to a complaint filed in federal court.

The government filed suit in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida to collect unpaid transferee tax liability assessed against Richard H. Cullifer for his 2003 and 2004 taxes. In 2015 the government assessed but never collected $10.8 million in taxes for those years,so now it seeks additional interest that has accrued, according to the complaint.
