US, India Say Trade Talks ‘Positive’ as They Seek to Reset Ties

The US and India said trade negotiators had “positive” talks in New Delhi on Tuesday as both sides seek to resolve tensions following President Donald Trump’s 50% tariffs imposed on the Asian nation last month.

The two countries agreed to “intensify efforts” to reach a trade deal, India’s government said in a statement after the one-day talks. The discussions were “positive and forward looking, covering various aspects of the trade deal,” it said.

The US embassy in New Delhi said in a separate statement that Brendan Lynch, assistant US trade representative, held a “positive meeting” with his counterpart, Rajesh ...
