Vermont Authorizes Nickel Rounding, Taxes Calculated Prerounding

The Vermont Governor signed a law that includes: 1) authorizing businesses to round the final amount for cash transactions to the nearest nickel, but providing that all taxes and fees are to be calculated and remitted based on the prerounding amount; and 2) authorizing legislative bodies of towns, cities, or incorporated villages to establish themselves as commercial property-assessed clean energy districts allowing commercial property owners to secure private financing for clean energy projects with loans tied to the property and payments made via municipal property taxes.
