Virginia Amends Code to Increase Technology Trust Fund Fee

The Virginia Governor signed a law amending §§17.1-279 and 58.1-811 of the Code of Virginia, increasing the Technology Trust Fund Fee from $5 to $8, on civil actions, recorded instruments, and docketed judgments, while exempting government entities from this fee. The law also clarifies that no recordation tax shall be required for deeds of gift, quitclaim deeds without consideration, or deeds correcting fraudulently recorded documents when no consideration has passed between parties.
