White House Pitches $14.1 Billion IRS Budget to Catch Tax Cheats (1)

The White House is requesting $14.1 billion for the IRS in the fiscal 2023 budget, an increase of 18% above the 2021 enacted level.

The ask is about $2.2 billion more than the 2021 enacted level, according to details of the budget released Monday. Amounts requested are compared with the fiscal 2021 spending level, which agencies were operating under with some adjustments until the omnibus spending package was signed this month.
