Women Plead Guilty, Sentenced in $600 Million Covid Tax Scheme

A tax preparer pleaded guilty Thursday for her role in a $600 million fraudulent Covid-19 tax credit scheme, following the sentencing of one of the other people charged in the scheme last week.

Janine Davis admitted guilt in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York for her role in what the Department of Justice called in January 2025 the largest uncovered Employee Retention Credit scheme case. Davis pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, according to court records.
