Senate Finance Committee leaders urged cryptocurrency industry experts and observers to provide input on the taxation of digital assets in a bipartisan effort to identify key policy questions.
Finance Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) are working to better understand tax “challenges and opportunities” presented by digital assets, according to a news release. The senators asked for input on several topics, including the application of the wash sale rule on digital assets and the de minimis tax exemption for small transactions.
