Yellen Presses Indian Counterpart on Tax Deal Ahead of G-20

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen spoke with her counterpart in India on Tuesday, part of an effort to build support for an international tax agreement ahead of next week’s Group of 20 finance ministers’ meeting in Venice.

Yellen told Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that the two nations “have a shared interest in implementing a robust global minimum tax” and said the countries can seize a “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to remake the international tax system to help the global economy thrive,” the Treasury Department said in a statement.
