American Express Elects Ex-SEC Chief Jay Clayton to Board

American Express says Walter Joseph Clayton has been elected to board, effective Oct. 5.

• Clayton served as the Chairman of the SEC between 2017 and 2020, currently Senior Policy Advisor and Of Counsel at Sullivan & Cromwell
• Clayton also serves as Non-Executive Chairman of Apollo Global Management and a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee
