BDO Australia’s audit division allegedly harmed a company after singing off on false and misleading financial reports, according to a legal action launched by the Australian government.
The civil action filed Monday in the Federal Court by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission claims BDO Audit (Western Australia) Pty Ltd and its director, Dean Just, should have known that financial statements for publicly traded Dubber Corporation Limited were “materially false or misleading” for including non-existent bank statements totaling A$60 million ($39.9 million).
Just was lead auditor of Dubber’s annual financial reports from 2020 to 2022, according to an ASIC statement. ...
