Big Four False Allegations Based on Google AI, Academic Claims

A leading Australian accounting academic has blamed Google’s Bard artificial intelligence program for false allegations he made against the Big Four accounting firms in submissions to an inquiry into consultants’ ethics.

Emeritus professor James Guthrie claimed sole responsibility and apologized to the Big Four, other accounting firms and the Joint House Corporations and Financial Services Committee for errors in two submissions made jointly with other academics to the inquiry. Guthrie is a professor at Macquarie University’s Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance.
