‘Big Greenwashing’ Imperils ESG Progress, Standards Chief Says

Misleading ESG claims are now so widespread among companies that they risk “disincentivizing” those trying to deliver the genuine article, according to the chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board.

Emmanuel Faber, the former chief executive of Danone SA who’s been chairing ISSB since it was created last year, said it’s clear that regulators haven’t been keeping pace with the rapid growth of ESG. But he also said it would be a mistake to underestimate the new wave of environmental, social and governance rules that’s now reshaping the global economy.
