Bundle Climate Checks With Financials, Deloitte Audit Chief Says

Deloitte LLP’s audit leader wants corporate auditors to be the sole vetters of air pollution data, packaging those checks within standard financial statement reviews.

Auditors will have to test those greenhouse gas figures anyway, Lara Abrash, chair and CEO of Deloitte’s US audit practice, said in an interview with Bloomberg Tax & Accounting. Hiring a boutique ESG firm or other vendor to do the same work would duplicate efforts, she said.
