Citi Taps Ex-Treasury Official to Help Oversee Risk and Controls

Citigroup Inc. has hired a Libor expert and former U.S. Treasury official to oversee risk and controls for a large swath of the Wall Street giant’s North American business.

Peter Phelan, a three-decade financial-services veteran and deputy assistant secretary for capital markets under former U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, will lead risk and control functions inside the firm’s North American institutional clients group. He joined Citigroup last month, according to his LinkedIn profile.
