‘Eminent Persons’ Help Shape Global Green Accounting Group

The body responsible for global accounting standards has set up an advisory board chaired by a former European Central Bank chief to give strategic guidance on setting mandatory green reporting rules for companies.

The IFRS Foundation, parent body of the International Accounting Standards Board, announced Monday that the board, which it calls the Eminent Persons Group, has met once already as part of the foundation’s work to establish the proposed new International Sustainability Standards Board. The aim is to set binding corporate sustainability reporting rules, which are likely to be adopted by countries using international accounting standards.
