EU Trade Envoy Urges China to Fix Trade Gap at Paris Meeting

European Union’s trade envoy told his Chinese counterpart to address the “unsustainable” trade imbalance between the two economies, as the bloc weighs new restrictive measures against Beijing.

The EU’s chief trade negotiator, Maros Sefcovic, raised the issue in a meeting with Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang on the margins of a ministerial meeting at the OECD in Paris on Thursday. The two discussed matters including rebalancing the bilateral trade and investment relationship, Sefcovic told a press conference after the meeting.
