EU Sustainability Reports in Limbo Amid Push for Broad Overhaul

European sustainability reporting rules that kicked in last year face a drastic rethink, as EU technocrats work to simplify them after complaints the rules were rushed through and are too complex.

“The EU’s sustainability reporting rules urgently need to be recalibrated,” the think tank Centre for European Policy Studies said in a summary of an independent analysis conducted for the European Parliament in June. “What began as a bold legislative push to steer markets towards environmental and social goals is now showing signs of regulatory overreach.”
