The UK’s accounting watchdog banned a BDO senior manager from the profession for 20 years over what it called “sustained dishonesty” in auditing work.
Amanda Nightingale deliberately signed audit reports without audit engagement partners’ knowledge between 2015 and 2019, the Financial Reporting Council said Thursday.
BDO and two of its partners are also under investigation over whether they had sufficient controls in place to prevent her conduct. The FRC said that the audits at issue generally involved smaller, private companies and that BDO had since changed its systems and controls.
