Ex-Wirecard CFO Ley May Be Released From Jail, Prosecutors Say

Nov. 2, 2020, 2:46 PM UTC

Former Wirecard AG Chief Financial Officer Burkhard Ley will be released from pre-trial detention at the request of Munich prosecutors, who say his role in the scandal was limited to a time before the “major” criminal action took place.

Ley can leave jail once he fulfills certain conditions aimed at limiting the risk that he might tamper with evidence or flee, Munich prosecutors said Monday in an emailed statement. Prosecutors identified him only as “suspect L.,” in line with office rules.

Ley had been in detention since July.
