Former Deloitte Netherlands Partner Facing Court over Steinhoff

A former Deloitte partner is being taken to court by the Dutch financial regulator over the accountant’s role in the Steinhoff accounting scandal.

The former partner faces disciplinary court proceedings April 19, said Danielle de Jong, a spokeswoman for the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets. The court has power to disqualify the person, she said.

• Steinhoff, a South African furniture company, was headquartered in Amsterdam for tax reasons and audited by Deloitte Netherlands. It nearly collapsed in 2017 after an alleged $7.7 billion fraud.
