Global Climate Reporting Rules Will Be Effective From 2024

The International Sustainability Standards Board said Thursday that its first two ESG reporting standards would be effective from fiscal year 2024, despite objections that this would leave some firms and countries too little time for implementation.

All 14 ISSB members voted for the standards to take effect for reporting periods beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2024. The standards cover climate and general sustainability reporting, with the board intending to draft further rules covering all aspects of environmental, social, and governance issues when the first two standards have been signed off.
