Grant Thornton U.K. Chief Says Spotting Fraud Not Auditor’s Job

The chief of Grant Thornton International Ltd.'s U.K. operations drew some ire in Parliament when he said looking for fraud isn’t an auditor’s job.

“We are not doing what the market thinks. We are not looking for fraud, and we are not looking at the future, and we are not giving a statement that the accounts are correct,” David Dunckley, Grant Thornton UK LLP CEO, told a Parliament committee looking into the auditing sector after a spate of scandals.
