Interest Rate Risk Disclosures Need a Refresh, SEC Official Says

US companies should draw on financial crisis- and pandemic-era disclosure guidance to help investors understand the risks they face from the rapid rise in interest rates, an SEC official said Thursday.

“I hope preparers are looking at their market-risk disclosures,” said Lindsay McCord, chief accountant for the Division of Corporation Finance at the Securities and Exchange Commission. She said corporate managers should ask themselves, “Are these sufficient in these times with rising rates for investors?”
