Final versions of the 2026 form for reporting U.S.-sourced income paid to nonresidents, the 2025 annual return for those forms, and instructions for both were released Dec. 9 by the Internal Revenue Service.
No changes were made to the 2026 Form 1042-S, Foreign Person’s U.S.-Sourced Income Subject to Withholding, from a draft released Sept. 16. In the draft, some of the form’s boxes were renumbered to accommodate reporting addresses in multiple boxes instead of one.
