Japan to Take Budgetary Steps to Help Its Chip Industry: Yomiuri

Japan’s government is looking to take tax and budgetary steps to stimulate investment in the nation’s semiconductor industry, the Yomiuri reported, citing a draft plan.

The measure by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s administration will also target the biotechnology and storage battery sectors and data centers, as officials see those four areas as the nation’s main “strategic fields” with growth potential, according to the report.
